The Pie Contest & Bake Sale is back! Show off your baking skills and celebrate the nostalgia of the holiday season at the Weeping Water Valley Historical Society’s Old Fashioned Pie Contest and Bake Sale on Saturday, December 3rd at Memory Lane Museum from 10am to 2pm. The event is held in conjunction with Weeping Water's Annual Come Home For Christmas Celebration so there's lots to do in town that day!

The pie contest is open to amateur & home bakers of all ages and 1st & 2nd place prizes will be awarded to Adult (13 & up) and Youth (12 & under) Categories. Contestants may enter up to two different pies and will be judged by overall appearance, crust, filling, flavor, and creativity. There is no cost to enter. Following judging the pies will be sold by the slice. Not a baker but have a sweet tooth? Stop by for the eats! The Weeping Water Whiz Kidz 4-H club is hosting a bake sale and quilt raffle, plus there will be games and prizes for all ages.

Applications are now being accepted for the position of 4-H Extension Assistant at the Nebraska Extension - Cass County Office in Weeping Water. This is a full-time County paid position, with some night and weekend hours required. Benefits include Health, Retirement, Vacation, Sick and Holidays. Hourly rate will start at $17. Obituary

John Thomas Parson
January 21, 1952-October 30, 2022
John Thomas Parson was born January 21, 1952, in Nebraska City, NE to Barbara (Everett) and Lynn "Gabby" Parson. John was the fourth child of 10, and the family resided in Weeping Water, NE. John was involved in music and sports throughout school and was proud to be a tenor in the All-State Chorus. He graduated in 1970 from Weeping Water High School.

John was always proud of his children and enjoyed being involved in the community. From the Jaycees men's outreach to being a youth sponsor and board member at Faith Missionary Church, singing in the barbershop quartet in Nebraska City to being a karaoke regular, and using his woodworking skills to help others, it was no secret that John liked to be with people.

And he especially liked to make them laugh! Thousands of innocent victims have been heard groaning loudly at his puns over the years. Even in his last few months of life, John would tell the couple of jokes he still remembered.

After many strokes and years of health complications, John passed into eternity on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Good Samaritan Society nursing home in Syracuse, NE. His family is thankful John is now at peace in the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Memorial Service will be on Saturday, November 5th at 10:30am, with a luncheon to follow, Visitation will be held on Friday, November 4th from 4:00pm-7:00pm, all held at Faith Missionary Church in Weeping Water. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Services Weeping Water .
